Design and Visual Communication (DVC)

The name of this subject has changed but much of the content is a return to the familiar days of Graphics and Technical Drawing. With a strong focus on drawing skills as well as the development of ideas, this course is ideal for the creatively minded. Basic drawing skills are taught in Year 9 and then further developed at Year 10.

The recent introduction of Computer Aided Design has added a new dimension to courses at Year 10 and above. Students can now design by hand and then model their outcomes in 3D. This can also lead to 3D printed modelling of outcomes and CNC work. Developing container buildings and bike lights are just two project based units of work. Year 12 students also begin to explore architectural design and develop an understanding of basic architectural structures.
