Food Technology develops key skills throughout the year groups. Junior students develop an awareness of food and nutrition while exploring the composition of a range of recipes, both savoury and sweet. A highlight of the Year 9 programme is the "café lunch" where students invite guests to enjoy a two course lunch which the students have prepared.
Our senior students work through a number of hospitality credits from our provider partner Service IQ. They also take part in short courses and can gain credits for knife handling skills, mocktails, wine appreciation and barista service. Seniors are called on to cater for some school events. This provides them with authentic learning opportunities and gives them an understanding of working to deadlines and budget as well as meeting a range of dietary needs.
