Metalwork and Engineering focuses on developing essential workshop skills. The fabrication of sheet metal, lathe and mill work as well as welding are all covered from the junior school through to senior classes.

The junior courses introduce students to work with the lathe and welding, with a strong emphasis on design. Other materials are covered including carbon fibre and plywood composites to produce skateboard decks.

While there is always some scope for individualised outcomes, all Year 11 students build an off-road mini dirt bike. This develops the skills and knowledge which allow students to explore a project of their own imagination in Year 12 and 13.
